Solar water heaters
Solar water heaters use flat plate collector panels to capture the sun’s energy. The heated fluid is pumped into an insulated storage tank in the house where the heat is transferred to the domestic hot water supply used for cooking, bathing and laundry.
Solar water heaters require a well-insulated storage tank. In two-tank systems, the solar water heater preheats water before it enters the conventional water heater. In one-tank systems, the back-up heater is combined with the solar storage in one tank to save space.
